Meg, Elizabeth, and Mary jump into what it means for them to be identified as “Southern Women,” especially White Southern Women. The “Steel Magnolia” stereotypes can feel empowering at moments and severely limiting in others. As our three women delve into this archetype, they reflect on ministries unique to and from women, the need to step forward as women to change stereotypes, the conflicts they feel as white women in the South and church expectations for women. We give thanks for the strong women who have come before us while acknowledging our drive to change our Southern structures and expectations.
